Myth 1: Botox® is not safe

Fact: Health Canada and the FDA has approved Botox® for cosmetic and therapeutic purposes. Botox®  is safe when the right amount is injected and when screening is done properly. Botox®has an expiry date and should be stored in a refrigerator.  It is important that the injector is certified in Canada to follow health safety guidelines.

Myth 2:  Botox® makes you look frozen

Fact: A properly trained injector will administer the right amount to achieve natural looking results.  An assessment of the facial features and a discussion on the client expectations are essential to finding the right balance.

Myth 3:  Once Botox® wears off, you will get deep wrinkles back immediately
Fact: Botox® relaxes the muscles that cause wrinkles, providing a smoothing and tightening effect on your skin. Wrinkles and fine lines develop as the muscles work to perform movements such as raising eyebrows, frowning, and squinting.  Even when Botox® wears off in 3-4 months, the muscles learn to adapt to less movement in the injection areas. Some people will find that they can wait longer for the next injection because they have less wrinkle formation.
