Nuceiva™, also known as Jeuveau® in the United States, is an anti-aging injection containing Clostridium botulinum bacteria.

Nuceiva is nicknamed “Newtox” and is a neuromodulator approved by Health Canada in 2019.

This neuromodulator is intended for cosmetic purposes only.

This distinguishes Nuceiva™ from the well-known Botox®, as the latter is used for both cosmetic and medical purposes.

The way Nuceiva works is the same as other neuromodulators.

The botulinum toxin contained in Nuceiva™ relaxes and prevents muscles on the face from contracting.

Less muscle mobility means a lesser chance of skin folding or creasing, thus meaning fewer lines and wrinkles on the face.

When injected consistently over time, neuromodulators can visibly smooth out existing lines and wrinkles while preventing further lines and wrinkles from developing.

Some people may start to notice results from Nuceiva™ in 2-3 days after the treatment, but it may take up to 2 weeks for the full effects to appear.

There is not a big difference between Nuceiva™ and Botox® in terms of effects, since both of them are neuromodulators and both contain the same neurotoxin ingredients.

Nuceiva is marketed by Evolus and Clarion Technologies, a cosmetic company, while Botox is marketed by Allergan, a pharmaceutical company.

Even though Nuceiva/Newtox is new to the market, many patients experienced significant improvement of wrinkles on their face after receiving Nuceiva™ injections.
